Client login; Can taxpayers have a username and password rather than using a link every time?

I have a couple of clients who don't like having to use the link and wait for a code via email every time they log in. Have you considered allowing taxpayers to login with a username and password? Could they also have more flexibility as to the MFA method... could they choose between SMS and email for the code?

Hi Phil, I cannot say for certain if a change like this is being considered, although this would require a complete redesign of the software. An update like this would likely not be in the foreseeable future.

More flexibility for how taxpayers want to authenticate is a great suggestion and I can certainly see why this would be beneficial for the client experience. Thank you!

  • I always try and input the clients cell phone number as its easier and quicker to get the text message than an email, since most people have their phones in their pockets or on their desk at all times.
