Payment reminders

Currently, the payment reminders only goes to the first person sent the return. It would be nice to have reminders go to both the taxpayer and spouse.

I think this is an excellent idea!

  • Sometimes the spouse is the more responsive party when it comes to paying estimates etc. It would be very helpful if the estimate reminders didn't only go to the taxpayer or if we could at least specify that it should go to the spouse. Per the help articles, even when the spouse is specified as the primary signer, once the return is signed, reminders automatically default to the taxpayer regardless of the spouse being the primary signer. This should be able to be edited so that the spouse receives the reminder.

  • At some point SafeSend changed it so both taxpayer and spouse received the notifications and then for 2025 it was changed to only going to the taxpayer even if the return was sent to the spouse first. I have responded to numerous emails and calls from "spouse" clients asking to confirm their Q4 tax payments because they didn't receive an email notification. PLEASE change it back and let the clients decide if they want to turn off the notifications. This totally defeats the purpose of reminders when our staff has to look up the information and respond to emails, especially the clients that were used to receiving them last year.
