SS Returns - Instructions and Amounts from Transmittal Letter

Hello,

I'd like to request that SafeSend move away from reading printed vouchers and returns to come up with payments/refunds due to clients and instead read the transmittal letter. We have about a 50/50 success rate when sending returns right now with the information being correct for review because of this, VA for corporation requires EFT or scheduled drafting of the payment(s) with no vouchers and there are multiple other instances where the refunds are wrong due to penalties and/or the payments being drafted do not show as being owed. It can be very time consuming to fix on a multi-state return.

Thank you,

Brittany

    Hello Brittany and Alexandra!

Our current methodology for date recognition relies on the static pages that vouchers provide and provides a fallback default date if the voucher page does not print with a listed date that we can read.

Because Transmittal Letters differ from client to client and firm to firm, it is not currently possible for us to read the due dates from transmittal letters. Still, I will submit an Enhancement Request on your behalf to see if it is something we can accomplish with future updates to the program!

Thank you for your feedback. It is always vital for us to know what best suits our users and find a way to accomplish it!

  • Agreed! We've been having to manually change the due dates for the payments since our tax preparers calculate the amounts due based on the date of payment, which is included in the transmittal letter. (For instance, not all payments for returns on extension should be due October 15th.)
