Turn automatic signing reminders back on
The lastest update allowed for turning reminders back on after the due date has passed (in Florida we have hurricane deadlines, so our due date is May 1, 2025). How do you do this? I can't follow the release notes or the instructions provided on this page:
Can automated reminders be turned back on after the filing or extension deadline? |
Yes, automated reminders can be manually re-enabled after the deadline. See our Adjusting Automated Reminders article. |

Reminders are set and scheduled once a return is delivered, so yes, this would be the only way to re-enable as reminders wouldn't be On for non-delivered items.

It unfortunately can only be done after the return is delivered. We are having the same issue here in NC. Support told us to select the returns we want reminders turned on for, click the "send reminder" button at the top of the screen, and then click over to schedule auto reminders. This is something I am doing weekly for newly delivered returns, and is pretty inconvenient, but seems to be their only solution at the moment. There is no way to just flip a switch and make reminders start again for everything.
Alyse, thank you for the reply. I guess I really just don't understand the reason for the programming in the first place. Even if someone was filing late, after the due date, why wouldn't we want signing reminders sent to the client to sign the return? What's the point of these ever not being enabled?
The program has always cut off automatic reminders after each deadline date. The workaround to this was to recall and redeliver the return to reset the delivery date. I cannot speak as to 'Why' it functioned this way, but after a lot of feedback, our product team released this feature to allow the reminders to be re-enabled rather than the firm having to recall and redeliver the return.
