Manually Signed on Client Portals
Keep the return on the client portal when the client selects manually signed and mails in the form to the office. We mark the returns Manually Signed to indicate received via paper and we discovered the returns is removed from the client portal for records.
Several clients do not have the ability to upload the signed document, therefore they mail them in.

Hi Andrea,
Thank you for letting us know about the manually signed returns. I’ve looked into the issue, and here’s what I found:
For a return to appear in the client portal, a signed Form 8879 is required. We do have a workaround in place for situations where clients return their signed documents by mail instead of uploading them to SafeSend.
If you receive a return by mail, please mark it as Manually Signed in SafeSend. Then, go to the ellipsis menu and select Upload Forms. Once the status updates to “Uploaded,” the return will appear in the client’s portal. I’ve tested this process to confirm it works as expected.
I’ve also shared this with our Product Team, and we’re exploring ways to streamline this so manual uploads won’t be necessary in the future. For now, this workaround should ensure everything is visible to your clients.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Best regards,
