Gather vs Organizers
Our firm implemented SafeSend a little less than a year ago, and we're very glad that we did. Organizers, Returns, Signatures, and TTC have all been big improvements over our previous processes.
We're looking at adding Gather AI. As much as I like technology, etc. - I'm not sure if this is enough of an improvement over Organizers to justify bothering with. I'm not sure that providing clients with an AI generated listing of items needed for their tax return is a pain-point that needs to be addressed for our firm.
Fortunately, 95+% of our clients do a good job of providing us with the tax documents that are needed. They have a good handle on what they need to provide, and they do. Many will scan them in to a single pdf file, and many will mail in or drop off an envelope full of docs. In either case, our staff will compile the relevant documents into an organized and bookmarked pdf that we use as a workpaper file.
While some clients might enjoy completing a Gather request for their Fidelity 1234 account, Fidelity 5678 account, etc. - most would probably prefer to simply provide us with all of their Fidelity and other tax docs. While Gather certainly looks much nicer than the digital Organizer, uploading docs to satisfy the Gather request seems somewhat tedious. It's possible that it's not as tedious as what it appears to me.
If you use Gather, what has your experience been? Is it a significant improvement over Organizers?
