August Product News for the SafeSend Suite
Stay apprised of the latest product news regarding the SafeSend Suite and SafeSend Returns. Please read through the product release notes below and visit our Help Center for additional information.
With our most recent release, the following enhancements are available:
SafeSend Returns Release Notes

Firm and Taxpayer Screen Share
- Firms can securely access a taxpayer’s screen within SafeSend Returns.
- The taxpayer can request a screen share by clicking the Contact Person → Share Screen.
- Access to the taxpayer’s screen requires the firm to generate an access code by clicking the Actions button → Screen Share.
- For joint returns, the firm will need to select which signer is requesting screen share.
- Taxpayers can share the entire desktop, an application, or specific tab within an application.

Access Code Generation for Multi-Factor Authentication
- Firms can generate access codes for taxpayers who have multi-factor authentication enabled.

Navigation Panel Changes
- Changes to the Navigation Panel offer better organization and reporting capabilities for firms.
- A new menu, Tax Returns, includes the following:
- Send Tax Returns which replaces My Assignments and All Assignments.
- Delivered Returns, Archive Returns, K1 Delivered, Recycle Bin, and Reminder Management which were previously located under Reports.
- All reports have filter capabilities and are downloadable to Microsoft Excel.

Reporting Export Options
- Firms will now have the option to download excel reports into My Downloads or Download Now.
- This selection can be changed by clicking My Settings → Default Download Option.

Payment Notification Settings
- System admins can turn notifications on or off at the firm level for taxpayer payments by clicking Settings → Vouchers & Invoices.
- Users will need to enable this setting by clicking My Settings → My Notifications.

Enhanced Security for In-Process Returns
- A global setting is now available to limit user access during the processing of a return.
- Processors can grant access to users during the upload stage.
- System admins will continue to have full access.
- To change this setting, click My Settings → Security.

Taxpayer Payment Details
- Taxpayers can clear and edit payment details.
- When payment details are edited, a notification will be sent to the firm (if enabled).
- For more information, reference the Make Voucher Payments article in the Help Center.

Payment Option Visibility
- When no vouchers are present, the payment option will not be visible to the taxpayer when reviewing the return.

Resend Access Link Email Notification Verbiage
- Clients sometimes request a new link to a completed tax return. The message in the email notification has been updated to reflect a completed status.
- Firms will not be able to edit the message.

Client Tracking Enhancements
- Tracking will now be available on Additional E-Signed Documents sent with the tax return.
- Individuals who are copied (CC’d) on a return will be captured as well.

User Management
- Users with a signature only role will no longer be able to process returns.
SafeSend Signatures Release Notes
With our most recent release, the following enhancements are available:

Smartphone User Interface
- Documents sent through SafeSend Signatures can be accessed, reviewed, and signed on smartphone devices.

Additional Security Options
- Firms can choose between an access code (email or text), SSN (first or last 4), EIN (first or last 4), or question and answer, at the individual signer level.
- For more information, reference the Send for Signature article in the Help Center.

Report a Problem
- Firms can now use the “Report a Problem” function for SafeSend Signatures.
- Documents will be sent securely in-product to customer support for troubleshooting / review.
- “Report a Problem” can be accessed by clicking on the Help? menu at the top right of the screen.

Recipient Management
- Firms can add users, select recipient type, and authentication method by clicking the Add Recipient button.
- There is no limit on the number of recipients that can be added.

Document Management
- Firms can select multiple documents to restore, archive, or delete by utilizing the select all or page buttons.
SafeSend Organizers Release Notes

Reminders
- Firms can deliver reminders for engagement letters, Organizers, and Source Documentation.
- Reminders can be sent individually or as a group.
- Templates for each reminder type will be provided and are customizable by the firm.
- Reminders can be applied to Batch Organizers. Completed organizers and e-signed engagement letters will not receive a reminder.
- Reminder activity will be available in Client Tracking.
- Automated reminders are not available at this time but are scheduled for future release.

Usage Report
- Firms can view Organizers historical usage, refunds, and current balance.
- Filters can be applied for specific date ranges.
- Reports can be downloaded and exported to Microsoft Excel.

Bounced Email Notifications
- Firms will receive a notification when Organizers are unsuccessfully delivered to the client.
- This setting cannot be turned on or off.
- Notifications are sent to the sender of the Organizer(s).

Report a Problem
- Firms can use the “Report a Problem” function with SafeSend Organizers.
- Organizers will be sent securely in-product to customer support for troubleshooting / review.
- “Report a Problem” can be accessed by clicking on the Help? menu at the top right of the screen.

Taxpayer Preview
- Firms can preview Pro Forma and Batch Organizers by clicking on the taxpayer preview button in delivery options.
