Use Custom Message Name as Task Name in Client Portal

Current Issue:
The client portal shows all Gather requests with the default name format (e.g., “Tax Year – Gather Request”), which makes it hard for clients to distinguish between multiple requests for the same year (e.g., personal vs. business return).

Proposed Solution:

  • Instead of a fixed task name, use the custom message name entered by the firm as the display name in:
    • Client portal task list
    • Automated email header
  • Example:
    • Gather Message Name: “2024 Business Return Document Request”
    • Portal Task Name: “2024 Business Return Document Request”

Benefits:

  • Eliminates confusion for clients with multiple requests for the same year.
  • No extra fields needed—leverages existing customization.
  • Improves clarity for clients ease of use.
