In Office e-sign
We enjoyed having the ability to use in office e-sign for clients who either just stop by while in town or who were struggling with the digital version by themselves. We've used it quite a bit this year. Here are some struggles/suggestions we would greatly appreciate being considered for enhancement.
- Client signature should be based solely on the birthdate entered and not who the return was delivered to first. We had several occasions where the spouse would stop by before the taxpayer and having to recall and redeliver to the spouse was too much. At that point it's just as easy for us to print a piece of paper for them to sign.
- Admin team having to log back in between every signature, even for the same taxpayer/spouse is too much. The client spends more time waiting for us to get logged in than it takes for them to sign. It also turns them off to doing it themselves on their device because they think they will have to do the same thing (because they see us doing it). I can't tell you how many times I've heard "Bear with me just a moment. It takes me longer to log in than it does for you to sign." "Bear with me just a moment. I have to log back in for you (spouse) to sign." Having the option to go directly to the other signature needed on the same return would be very helpful since the clients are standing in front of us.
For anyone considering using In Office e-Sign, we HIGHLY recommend a large touch screen device. We started with a laptop but clients kept trying to touch the screen and scrolling for their birth year got to be cumbersome. We asked our IT for a touchscreen device and they provided us with a Surface to try. It worked WONDERFULLY! Touchscreen is the way to go. Also being able to turn the device portrait mode gives the client much more area to see their return information.
Thanks SafeSend for this option!
