SafeSend Update July 2025

This update to SafeSend Returns is absolutely horrendous. It looks worse and does not make it easier to use. It looks just like signatures and makes everything look clunky and smooshed together. While i'm use to that with signatures, returns is something we are obviously in and using a LOT more than signatures. The previous design was a lot simpler to use. I am not sure how many people asked for this update and i can't imagine many are happy with it. Sad that it feels like SafeSend is almost going downhill since being bought by Thomason Reuters.

Also the search feature is still horrible our firm cannot understand why they took away the type and search and made it a drop down.

  • As an admin who works a lot in Returns, I completely agree with this feedback, and my manager (our firm's director of operations) echoes these concerns.  And it's not just how it looks. This update was marketed as an improvement to make our workflow easier, but instead it’s introduced unnecessary hurdles that go well beyond the standard learning curve.

    • The new interface isn’t cleaner or more modern; it actually looks outdated and feels more cumbersome to navigate.
    • Efficiency has taken a significant hit. The risk of accidental clicks and errors has increased, slowing us down when we’re already under pressure.
    • Replacing type-and-search with a dropdown has baffled and frustrated our entire team - it’s a step backward in ease of use.
    • The Finish step should automatically default to send the return to the client. We don't need this internal review step when the return was already reviewed prior to reaching SafeSend. It's an extra click and a waste of time.

As for Gather, alphabetizing by first name when the format is LAST, FIRST is simply illogical. While sorting by Client ID works as a compromise, it’s not intuitive.

If ever there was a time for SafeSend to play an Uno Reverse card, it’s now.

  • Ditto!  Very well said about an "Uno Reverse" card!

  • For a different perspective, we actually really like the updates made last month. It did take a little bit of getting used to the new interface though.

  • This sums up my firm's experience with the new update perfectly. It often feels as though no one who uses the software is involved with updating it. Searching and sorting for returns is a basic function that they have made increasingly more difficult. If a human admin had tested it, it would be easy to spot.
